Interview: Swimsuit Designer Cynise Adams (The Curvy Styler By Jchell)

I had the pleasure of interviewing the designer of Swim by Cynise Cheri, Cynise Adams. I first met Cynise via Instagram. I took notice of her beautiful designs and had to get more acquainted with her. Her swim line is flattering to women with curves making them look fabulous for a poolside party or vacationing on a cruise. Cynise’s swim line should be in clothing stores and in every woman’s closets. Here is her interview.

Jchell: Where are you from?
Cynise: Sacramento, CA

Jchell: Where did you attend high school/college?
Cynise: I graduated from IADT Sacramento in 2012. Here I received my Associates Degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising.

Jchell: What are some of your main interests and hobbies?
Cynise: I honestly love to watch reality T.V. I'm somewhat addicted to the drama. Lol and I love to see the new trendy fashions that the ladies are wearing. They inspire me to be creative.

Jchell: How long have you been designing clothes?
Cynise: I have been designing clothes for as long as I can remember. As a little girl I would draw my own designs and make Barbie clothes out of socks. In middle school I would cut up printed silk scarfs and glue them to my brother's Nike shoes to make the look like designer sneakers.

Jchell: What was it like starting out as a designer?
Cynise: It was intimidating for me to decide to become a designer. When I told my family and friends that I wanted to go to college to become a Fashion Designer they thought I was crazy and wasting my time. To them if you don't have a steady 9-5 then you're not successful. I always felt in my heart that being a designer was what I was placed on earth to do. No matter how "successful" I may or may not become from this is ok with me. I will always love life and be happy as long as I am designing.

Jchell: What is the name of your swimsuit line?
Cynise: Swim by Cynise Cheri.

Jchell: Who are what inspired you to design your swimsuit line?
Cynise: I was really inspired by bright colors and simple silhouettes that are flattering to a woman’s curves.

Jchell: Have you participated in any fashion shows?
Cynise: No, I have not had the opportunity to participate in any fashion shows yet. Currently I'm developing my collection and I am looking into showcasing my designs at Sacramento Fashion Week 2017.

Jchell: What are your favorite fashion trends you love?
Cynise: Some of my favorite fashion trends are color blocking, crop tops, bodycon dresses, jumpsuits/onesies and I'm obsessed with sheer and chiffon maxi skirts.

Jchell: Knowing what you know, what advice would you give to other designers trying to establish themselves?
Cynise: It is important for designers to network with others in order to establish themselves. Not only with other designers but also with photographers, makeup artist, models, potential clients, etc. You never know what your connections will lead you to. It's also important for designers to stay inspired, creative and current.
